I’d like to vacation abroad and have heard timeshares are a good alternative to overpriced hotels. I know it’s cheaper, but why would I want to rent a timeshare? It seems like a waste of money, should I just look into buying a timeshare instead?

Renting versus buying depends on the person, and what they intend on using the timeshare for.

Both renting and buying are great options, it really all depends on what your goals are as a traveler. Ask yourself if you plan on vacationing in the same location every year, or want to move around. If you want to vacation overseas this year but not next, buying a timeshare out of the country probably isn’t the best option for you. You could always buy timeshare within the US and then use an exchange company to get a resort you want abroad.
